Suzugami comes flat but you can change its shape to bend and contort into what you need it to be and flatten it again, just as you can with origami. Enjoy its mysterious resilience and flexibility!
The largest suzugami of 24 x 24 cm is the perfect size for use as a serving plate to share out food between guests such as salad or soba noodles. It can also be used for a range of other purposes, such as displaying flowers by bending the suzugami up into a vase shape. It is a real conversation starter, not to mention a work of art, produced by skilled craftspeople.

ABOUT SYOURYU
“Syouryu” is a new brand from Shimatani Shouryu Kobo, a family-run factory since 1909 which specializes in manufacturing rin (bowl gongs) for Buddhist temples.
At this workshop, there are three rin craftsmen (there are only ten in all of Japan) who make rin gongs by hammering metal down to create a round shaped gong with a nicely tuned tone. Syouryu's goal is to continue using this metal hammering technique to produce a new generation of products while preserving this beautiful ancestral tradition.
You can use these products for guests, accessories, and drinks, so that you can enjoy your own shape and purpose. They make great wedding and housewarming gifts!
